Overview
Alan Hunter is a New Yorker out of his element. He has moved to Olympia, Washington with two of his sisters and his parents. He has to start at Darleant High School, the local school. He absolutely despises Olympia at the end of the first month of school, however, and he wishes more than anything to be anywhere else, somewhere far away. His only new friends, Amira and Jon make the same wish at the same time, and the three of them are whisked away to a land called Caliba. In Caliba, they meet kind couple Dorothy and Harold, who help them escape Caliba and get back to Earth. On their journey, they are challenged by dragons, torturers, kidnappers, magicians, and a rather drunken bartender. As they struggle to overcome these obstacles, they are wrapped up in a reunion between sisters and a desire to return home.
