After her mother is killed in a riding accident, Harriet and her untrained two-year old colt are sent to live on the Vermont farm owned by her Aunt Sarah and Uncle Clayton. There, spirited Harry must learn to live with her domineering aunt and her family's shrouded past. Her only escape is a seven-mile ride to school, if she can tame the wild colt enough to ride him.
