Overview

Harris Dickson (1868-1946) was an American lawyer and author. He graduated in law from Columbian College in 1894 and practised law in Vicksburg. The success of his first novel, The Black Wolf's Breed (1899), led him to begin writing for magazines and newspapers. He contributed several pieces to the Saturday Evening Post, often featuring the character Old Reliable. His works include: The Siege of Lady Resolute (1902), She That Hesitates (1903), Duke of Devil-May-Care (1905), The Ravanels (1905), Gabrielle Transgressor (1906), Old Reliable (c1911), The House of Luck (c1916), The Unpopular History of the United States by Uncle Sam Himself, as Recorded in Uncle Sam's Own Words (1917), Old Reliable in Africa (1920), Old-Fashioned Senator (1925), Children of the River: A Romance of Old New Orleans (1928) and The Story of King Cotton (1937).
