Overview
US congressman Peter King's novel dramatically illustrates why the current peace accord in Northern Ireland means so much to its people. The year is 1981, and Bernadette Hanlon, a catholic housewife, becomes attracted to the clandestine world of the IRA after her husband is jailed for a killing he didn't commit. When the British authorities turn a blind eye to a Catholic child's murder, Bernadette is forced to realise there is only one way to change.
