Jane has been kidnapped, and Tarzan is scouring the countryside for her. Tarzan has all but given up hope in finding Jane, when he stumbles upon an unexplored region of the jungle.

"Tarzan the Terrible" was first published in Argosy All-Story Weekly(February, March, 1921). The first hadcover edition was published by A.C. McClurg & Co., in 1921.

The original edition was bound in red cloth with black lettering on the spine and cover. The dust jacket and interior illustrations were done by J. Allen St. John.
