Overview
Many American soldiers learn to parachute from airplanes, making them paratroopers. But none have as many other vital combat and survival skills as the fighters in the elite units called "special ops," short for special operations. The Air Force's pararescue jumpers, or PJs, and Combat Controllers, the CCTs, are among the finest paratroopers in the world. The Navy's SEALs, the Army's Green Berets, and other special ops fighters also use their parachutes when necessary. Sometimes they jump behind enemy lines. Other missions have called for them to parachute into a wide variety of dangerous situations. In both wartime and peacetime, the special ops paratroopers are always ready to leap into action.
