Overview
The past years have seen tremendous challenges with the convergence of Web Services and Grid Technology. There have been major initiatives, internationally as well as locally, within the community that has taken up these challenges. Grid Technology enables users to make a major change in the paradigm for conducting their work with the holy grail of "computing on tap" that also includes collaborative sharing. With this in mind, CCGrid 2006 provides researchers and practitioners with an excellent opportunity to share their research and experience at the crossroads of Grid Technology. The main proceedings comprise papers concerning message passing interface, peer to peer computing, information services and resource discovery, semantic web and web services, applications, programming models and environments, performance evaluation, security, data grid and management, middleware and infrastructure, and resource management and scheduling. In parallel with the main conference, there was also workshops on Agent-based Grid Computing, Global and Peer-2-Peer Computing, Distributed Shared Memory, Cluster Security, Bio-Medical Computations on the Grid, Grid Testbeds, and Distributed Simulation on the Grid. On the first day of the symposium, there are tutorials on Gridbus Middleware, MPI on the Grid, Grid-based Distributed Scientific Workflow Management, Non-Stop HPC and Grid-Enabled Cluster, and N1 Grid Engine Software and Distributed Resource Management Application API. These workshops feature 69 papers and are included in the companion CD-ROM along with the main conference papers.
