Howard Douglas, raised in the environment of foster homes sets out on his own at the age of 17 looking for a new way of life. Kingsley Spencer, a notorious casino tycoon, finds Howard sleeping on a bench and offers him a job - a job too good to turn down; or so it seems. Howard soon becomes Kingsley's right-hand man and for many years accepts the immoral ways of life. When his dying mother confesses he has a brother, Howard makes a promise to find him, but must figure out how to escape his corrupt lifestyle.

His quest takes him to the small town of New Hope and finding freedom changes his life forever. With the help of newfound friends, Abby and Harley, he discovers his true purpose.
