Overview
Phantom was one of the least known of the wartime special regiments, but its contribution to Allied success was substantial. Phantom took the fog out of war by informing the British, Canadians and Americans exactly what their forward troops were doing, and the enemy's reaction. They were at Dieppe with the commandos, in France with the SAS, at Arnhem with Airborne and in Germany until the surrender, operating also in Italy, Sicily, Austria, Belgium and Holland. Inevitably, personnel involved in these activities had their own way of doing things, and derring-do features high on the menu in this fascinating account of improbable events.
