Overview

OKOMI is a chimpanzee cartoon character for the very young, produced by The Children's Project in association with The Jane Goodall Institute. The Okomi stories are based on Jane's observations of chimpanzee behaviour in the wild. The chimpanzee mother/infant relationship is virtually identical to that of its human counterpart, and much can be learned from them. Presented as pure fiction, these delightful and useful books subtly cover many issues like fear, illness, eating, surprise, fun, laughter and new experiences, with his mother, Mama Du.
