Murphy on Evidence first appeared in 1980 under the name A Practical Approach to Evidence, and its success in providing a readable and practical guide to the subject has been widely acknowledged, not only by law teachers and students, but also by the profession.The book is now firmly established as a leading text for use on law degree courses and in preparation for professional examinations, and is frequently consulted by judges and practitioners. It has come to be regarded as a work of authority throughout the common law world. The eighth edition has been fully revised and updated to deal with the many significant changes which have taken place since the publication of the last edition in 2000. With the Human Rights Act 1998 in force, the impact of the European Convention on Human Rights on the law of evidence has become very marked, and this book offers full coverage of the most important decisions of both the English courts and the European Court of Human Rights. Express Newspapers plc (extent of journalistic privilege).
