One of the principal goals of this text is to impart a positive attitude to those who aspire to be elementary or middle school teachers. With a positive attitude toward mathematics comes confidence and an increased willingness to learn the mathematical content, skills, and effective teaching techniques necessary to become a competent teacher of mathematics. To that end, the content and processes of mathematics are presented in an appealing and logical matter with three principal goals in mind: to develop positive attitudes towards mathematics and mathematics teaching, to develop mathematical knowledge and skills, and to develop students as competent mathematics teaching professionals.
