Overview
John Calvin Parker was a pain at age twelve on the giant Wolf Lake Plantation in the Mississippi Delta as the ravages of war touched the lives of the family. The father, a Confederate colonel, was killed, and the older brother, Robert, joined the Rebel forces as his little brother continued to make the news and trouble on Wolf Lake. He sold a slave without permission, taunted the house and field help and joined the Klan as a youth. Whippings, injuries and often death resulted in his escapades with the night riders. His three older brothers became attorneys, he became an unsuccessful land owner with little or no regard for any who disagreed or threatened him. He spent his last days in Louisiana without attitude changes and troubles aplenty.
