Lysistrata by Aristophanes is a comedy first performed in 411 BCE. Lysistrata tells of one woman's idea for how to end the Peloponnesian War: the women of Greece would withhold sex from their husbands on the idea that this could force the men to negotiate peace. This strategy, however, inflames tensions between the sexes.
