The question of identity has alwayspreoccupied artists. Louisa Clement is no different, her central themeis the human being and the human in the digital. In her art, she startsout from herself, but ventures much further, asking how identity will beshaped in the future and examining forms of transformation. In theseries of works Repräsentantinnen (Representatives), shecreates AI-equipped, adaptive images of herself, with which visitors canconverse. In photographic works, the master pupil of Andreas Gurskycontinues this examination of the body and its possible optimisationsand deals with military legacies under the aspect of transformation.

Thispublication is appearing for an exhibition at the PaulaModersohn-Becker Museum - both artists are united in their search forself-expression, as Paula Modersohn-Becker's Self-portrait on 6th wedding anniversary from 1906 demonstrates in a succinct manner.

Louisa Clement(born 1987 in Bonn) completed her studies at the KunstakademieDüsseldorf in 2015 as a master pupil of Andreas Gursky. She has alreadyexhibited in various institutions and museums, including e.g.: MuseumFrieder Burda, Baden-Baden (2022); Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'artcontemporain (2022); Ludwig Forum Aachen (2019); Sprengel Museum Hanover(2019)

Die Frage nach Identität beschäftigt seit jeher Künstlerinnen und Künstler. Auch Louisa Clements zentrales Thema ist der Mensch und das Menschliche im Digitalen. In ihrer Kunst setzt sie bei sich selbst an, geht jedoch noch darüber hinaus. Sie stellt die Frage, wie sich Identität zukünftig herausbildet und untersucht Formen der Verwandlung. In der Werkserie Repräsentantinnen schafft sie mit KI ausgestattete lernfähige Ebenbilder ihrer selbst, mit denen sich die Besucher unterhalten können. In Fotoarbeiten setzt die Meisterschülerin von Andreas Gursky diese Auseinandersetzung mit dem Körper und dessen Optimierungsmöglichkeiten fort und beschäftigt sich darüber hinaus mit militärischen Altlasten unter dem Aspekt der Transformation.

Die Publikation erscheint anlässlich einer Ausstellung im Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum - beide Künstlerinnen verbindet die Suche nach einem Ausdruck ihres Selbst, wie das Selbstbildnis am 6. Hochzeitstag aus dem Jahre 1906 von Paula Modersohn-Becker prägnant vor Augen führt.
