These two lines are the "scope-of-attention" experiment with the tachistoscope, and the "time-displacement" experiment with the pendulum apparatus. It seems to me these two can be brought into relation to each other to the help of each of them individually, and that an investigation taking these wide relations within its scope may reasonably be expected to throw new light upon the manner in which mental processes are related to each other when they are together in consciousness at the same time.
