Overview

The death toll from the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the highest ever attributed to war in Africa or, indeed, anywhere in the world since World War II. At least 4.7 million deaths have occurred in the past five years. Aid agencies say that war-related hunger and disease continues to kill 1,000 people every day. VII photographers visited recently and have completed photo essays on the humanitarian crisis in northeast Bunia (focusing on Gina's settlement of recently displaced people and L'Hopital du Bon Marche, run by MSF).
