It is customary in giving reports of this character to read from a manuscript six or seven feet long with terrifying rows of figures. Now I dont propose to do this today or any other day, but I would like to sketch just a little of what has been done during the past year. The last meeting was held at Grand Rapids and there they provided wonderful facilities and we had a meeting that surpassed any we have ever held--unless it is the one to be held here in this city. Then during the summer the Directors met and after considerable discussion in which the merits of the various cities were discussed it was decided to locate the convention at Flint. I might explain, however, that the unwritten rule of late years has been that the Association shall meet in alternate years in cities located in the east and west sections of the state so that neither will feel that the other is slighted. I want to tell you how deeply grateful I feel--how great the obligation 1 am under to Mr. Wilson. When I first came to this office to take up the work as Secretary, I came up against the good work done by Mr. Wilson and I used to sit in his office in this city and listen to him tell how they did things years ago. And whatever success I have had is due largely to the advice of Secretary Wilson in telling me the things to keep clear of. So I may say...
