The book traces the hydrological cycle and the chemical processes which occur as water, with its dissolved and particulate load, moves from the atmosphere onto the land surface, into rivers, lakes, and oceans and is eventually incorporated into marine sediment. A glossary of terms is provided for readers who do not have an extensive background in chemistry. Although aimed at first year students studying environmental sciences, chemistry, geology, biology, or other science subjects, this book should also appeal to sixth formers studying chemistry or other sciences to ""A"" level, as well as to anyone with (or willing to acquire) a basic knowledge of chemistry and interested in how the natural environment operates as a chemical system.
