Or it may be a place you'd like to know only from a distance - a haven where emotions are hidden beneath the surface of artificial glamour.

There is an air of mystery about the place and about the people, and the traditional hostility the summer vacationers and the native islanders seems on the verge or erupting into something much uglier.
