Overview
Title V of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 authorizes federal grants for drug court programs (DCP) that include court-supervised drug treatment. This report assesses the effectiveness and impact of these grants. It focuses on determining: the universe of and funding for DCP; the approaches, characteristics, and completion and retention rates of existing programs; the extent to which program and participant data are maintained and used to manage and evaluate DCP; the results of this review and a synthesis of published and unpublished evaluations or assessments of DCP and the impact of such programs.
