Overview

Crystal Bowman is a homemaker, lyricist, & freelance writer. She especially enjoys writing for children & draws from her experience as a mother & former school teacher. When Crystal began sharing her poems with students in the local schools, the response was so positive that she wanted to make her poems available to the students. CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALK is a wonderful collection of these poems that children of all ages & backgrounds will enjoy. These poems address everyday issues such as the hiccups, mosquito bites, vegetables, & bubble gum. The reader will have an opportunity to meet such characters as Charles with snarles, messy Bess, Walter who hates his name, & a unique set of twins named Marilyn May & Mike. CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALK allows the reader to observe life through the eyes of an innocent child. It is warm, sensitive, humorous, & thought provoking. The poems are cleverly written in precise rhythm & rhyme, often with delightful endings. The poems are richly enhanced by outstanding illustrations. The illustrator, a fourteen year old boy, beautifully captures the warmth, humor, & emotions in unique & refreshing drawings. This book will appeal to all children, regardless of age, race or creed.
