Overview

Between the late-fifteenth and late-eighteenth centuries, European sea explores dramatically changed human understanding of the world. These handsome books combine brilliant color illustrations and concise text in an attractive magazine-style format. They recount the achievements and adventures of explorers, and feature between 70 and 110 full-color illustrations in each book.

Probably the most famous of all sea explorers, Christopher Columbus made four voyages of discovery to America for Spain between 1492 and 1504. The volume recounts his life and achievements with maps and illustrations. They depict Columbus's origins in Genoa, his important connections with the Spanish Court of Ferdinand and Isabella, reconstructed models of his ships, and the territories he explored.
