Overview
George Grogan retires early to Spain's up-and-coming 'Costa Salada'. He is offered employment at Blancanueva town hall as British ambassador to the growing expat population - but his real job is to hoodwink expats into voting for the out-of-favour ruling party in the local elections.Corrupt mayor Ricardo P#65533;rez needs one more term in office to reap the rewards of the deal of the century. A Russian investor wants to build a huge golf resort, and millions of euros in backhanders are on offer. The housing complex where Grogan lives has been built illegally and is facing demolition. The town hall could help out, but they want the land for a golf course.Grogan is sucked into the jet-set lifestyle. The town hall cronies introduce him to cocaine and prostitutes. The former teacher falls for beautiful Natalia - one of troupe of young woman enticed over from Russia with promises of jobs in hotels, only to be forced to work as sex slaves. They are controlled by a gang with close links to the town hall and Grogan needs to stay close to the mayor to win her freedom.Then everything starts to go wrong.While the retired British expats are putting up barricades to keep the bulldozers at bay, Grogan ends up on the run with after he is set up for crime he didn't commit.
