Excerpt from Annual Announcement: Seventy-Third Year In 1885, by the death of the founder, the care of the Institute passed entirely into the hands of a Board of Trustees, and since then many improvements have been made in the building, and extensive additions to its equipment in the museum and library and in scientific apparatus. In 1901 a wing was built for the use of a branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia. The lecture-room is capable of seating about six hundred persons and is equipped with excel lent lecture facilities. The collection of physi cal apparatus comprises many of the older forms which have historic interest and a large number of the most recent invention and con struction.
