Overview

This satirical work of fiction envisions God taking sides in our era of fake news warfare and the struggle of a modern-day Jonah to save the losers - Late-night comedians.

FROM THE BACK COVER

A former Late-night television host perishes in a biblically themed fashion. Although the comedian is widely mourned, no one seems to notice, or much less care about the underlying cause of death. But Tim Blake, a retired high school teacher, sees God's hand in the tragedy. In fact, Tim foresaw the comedian's demise and the means by which it would occur. As a second peculiar death follows the first, Tim and Mary, his wife, reluctantly come to believe he is a modern-day Jonah who must save the comics that have wandered into God's ground zero. Accurately forecasting the wrath of the Almighty via tweets, Tim becomes a social media sensation, is hunted by the FBI, and even appears on a Late-night television show to carry out his mission.

Tim's blood ran cold. "The comic was stoned to death," he whispered hoarsely to his wife.

"Don't you think you're being a bit overdramatic about all this?"

"Hardly. This is really weird, don't you think?"

"No, I do not," Mary answered. "Sometimes, things happen for a reason, and sometimes, they just happen. People do have premonitions, you know.

"Tim strongly disagreed. "This was much more than a premonition. Saying some TV star will soon expire is a premonition. My seeing a deeply tanned Damien Grant lying in some kind of a rocky casket was a full-fledged technicolor vision of the future."
