Overview
It is the eve of World War II, and in a small island nation near Antarctica, the peaceful, shipbuilding Dapple Wiener Dogs face the looming threat of occupation or, worse, annihilation by the German Shepherds and Japanese Hokkaidos. Dashing, daredevil explorer Amerigo Zangger and his trusty scientist buddies Galileo Wizzers, Isaac Whillakers and Lyman Screwball form an alliance with crippled World War 1 veteran Eaton Williams. Together the group of misfits embark upon the audacious project of building a spaceship to leave Earth in search of a peaceful planet on which the Dapples can live. Along the way they must fight not only time as the Shepherd and Hokkaido warships steam ever closer, but the Dapple Wieners' crazed, power-hungry president, Sagan Friesen, who will do anything to stop Zangger and his motley band of allies. But Friesen's daughter, Curie, is in love with Amerigo and has joined the renegades, who are racing against all the odds to finish the CRUX II in time to transport the whole nation of Dapple Wieners to a new home in outer space.
