In early 1900s Kansas, Mercy McClain works at the orphanage and serves on the school board to protect Teaville's children from the bullying she experienced as a child. When the classmate who bullied her the most petitions the board for a teaching position, Mercy is dead set against it. But Aaron Firebrook is a changed man seeking forgiveness from those he wronged.
