Author bio:

Cole Porter began his musical career at Yale University, writing songs for college functions and football games, including "Bulldog" and "Bingo Eli Yale." He also took academic courses at Harvard Law School and later at the Harvard School of Music. His first musical comedy in New York City was See America First (1916). Porter wrote the words and music for Can-Can (1953), Kiss Me Kate (1948), and Silk Stockings (1955), all of which are distinguished by their sophisticated and engaging songs. His most popular songs include "Night and Day" (1932), "Let's Do It" (1928), and "In the Still of the Night" (1937).
