Overview
Born to a farmer's daughter Mother and a Fishmonger/ Poulterer Father, six months prior to the outbreak of WWII, Evelyn Luck was introduced to the land and animals before she could even walk. She was educated at Homewood Secondary School, leaving at the age of 15 years with no qualifications whatsoever.
The only place that she wanted to work was on the farm. There she was in her 'comfort zone', at one with the countryside, nature and all creatures great and small.
After her marriage in 1962, she worked for her father-in-law, Bob Luck Snr, farming and cider making.
In 1973 Evelyn and her husband young Bob Luck acquired their own farm and farmed together until his death in 1998.
Evelyn's knowledge of traditional farming methods is second-to-none and she provides some amusing anecdotes and tales of the hardships and joys rural life can bring, but to fellow countrymen and women, it will also bring many reminiscences.
