Overview

The 2005 edition of the CD-ROM is published as part of the International Journal of Psychology, the Journal of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) and is automatically distributed to all journal subscribers on an annual basis. It is also available to users for separate purchase as a free-standing reference tool.

The CD-ROM was first published in 2000, and is an annually updated and expanded electronic collection of information resources on international psychology. From 2005 it has a new editorship. The incoming editors of the Global Resource aim to sharpen the focus and extend the range of the CD-ROM in the years to come. They intend to preserve timeless contributions, update existing sections as new information becomes available, expand coverage of areas that are of interest and value to users, and add new material to broaden the purview of this product.

New additions for 2005 include: fully browsable text of the Proceedings of the XXVI International Congress of Psychology (ICP) held in Montréal, 1996 (originally published in print in 1998) and the Directory of International Grants and Fellowships in the Behavioral, Social, and Health Sciences which is compiled by the Office of International Affairs of the American Psychological Association and focuses exclusively on grant and fellowship opportunities in these areas. There are also significant additions to the Ethics section (inclusion of papers from an Ethics Symposium held at the Beijing ICP, 2004), Origins section (inclusion of Oceania), and Public Policy section (inclusion of speech given at World Science Forum) for 2005.

Substantial and major updates have been undertaken and are presented in: the Directory of Major Institutions for Psychological Research and Training; Psychology Throughout the World: A Descriptive Tour and National Contacts; Bibliography of Psychology Around the World; Division 52 of the APA's International Psychology Information Clearinghouse; Directory of International Psychological Associations and Related Organizations; Selected Internet Resources; HealthNet Directory; and material related to the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS), including its history, officers, statutes, and publications.

Using proprietary integrated software, the major resource files and databases are searchable using keywords. Every section is also fully browsable and easy to navigate. This annually updated electronic resource guide makes information about psychological science and its worldwide context more readily available and will be especially helpful to those seeking international collaborations or wishing to trace the development of psychology in a country or region.
