Overview
Thomas Beetham Young, a graduate of three universities, has taught at five. In Macon, he taught Mercer University's first courses in creative writing and managed the faculty softball team. In Tucson, Dr. Young played shortstop on Sundays and taught at Pima County Community College on Tuesdays. In between, one warm August evening east of Van Horn, Texas,he and his daughter Sarah Alexandra (then 2½) invented the game of Quetzalcoatl. His collection of poetry, Down and Out in Macon and Tucson (2009), features poems from this period (1973-1976). By 1978 Dr. Young abandoned the idea of finding a compelling agent or requisite publisher. In 2008 it occurred to him in conversation with his best friend Becky that, of course, he might serve as both, for a fee. What you have is a result of that insight, and of that fee, a current and willing suspension of disbelief.
