This book investigates the ways in which children become adults in various religions and cultures around the world. Coming of age is usually celebrated between the ages of 12 and 21. Religious ceremonies, such as confirmation and bat mitzvah, and initiation rites, such as the Latin-American celebration for girls called quinceaera, are explored.
