It is time for us to have a serious conversation about poverty. A modern approach must work to solve the current problem. Local - and state-level initiatives have the power to achieve a strategic approach to the Beloved Community. To truly accomplish a Beloved Community, the United States must abolish poverty. When we adhere to what Dr. King prescribed in his work in 1967, poverty can be repealed in the same fashion that laws and states abolished slavery. A constitutional amendment that affirms there will be no poverty guarantees the absence of poverty. With an Economic Bill of Rights alongside the existing Political Bill of Rights, economic rights will be protected. Fellow inhabitants of the United States, let us use this work to start a conversation about making the necessary changes.
