This book documents an event that was organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the conception of Chandigarh, one of the most important architectural and urban planning experiments of the century. Inaugurated by the President of India, K.R. Narayanan, the seminar issues focused on the impact of Chandigarh and Le Corbusier's work on the direction of architecture, planning, theory and practice, the process of conceptualization and design and realization of the city plan. Leading architects from around the world gathered in Chandigarh to exchange ideas and to analyze Corbusier's architecture and the contribution of other architects and engineers who worked on the project including Drew, Jennneret, Fry and the Indian team.
